Planning early to reduce your development’s Acoustic impact is sound advice.

All domestic developments will need to meet certain compliance levels for acoustics and sound insulation. These are dictated in the (Part E) Building Regulations and also covered by BREEAM, CSH and others standards.

Sound insulation testing, or pre-completion testing must be carried out on new build properties where Robust Details are not used.

A new build property will either require an Airborne test or an Airborne and Impact test depending on its type and location.

  • Airborne tests are carried out on all separating walls between habitable rooms of flats and houses.
  • Airborne and Impact tests are carried out on the separating floors between habitable rooms of flats.

All of our sound insulation tests are carried out in accordance with ISO 140-4 and ISO 140-7. Our acoustic engineers are members of the Institute of Acoustics and are UKAS accredited for pre-completion sound testing.
